Do you know what PostSecret is? If not, take a look at this (http://postsecret.blogspot.com/). The one I made were all written by Smallville characters, the first two by Clark to Lex, and the third one by Lana to Chloe.
Oh, oh I love these. Especially the first two (no surprise), and of those, I'm torn between loving #2 for beauty and #1 for how smart it is; despite how little it seems to give us, we still know exactly whose secret it is, what they're talking about, and who they're talking to (if, that is, it's Lex, talking about Desiree, addressing Clark ;)
Wonderful, thank you so much for sharing these with us!
I am tempted to lie and say that your interpretation of the first postcard is right, because I like it better thant the original. However, the truth is, it was from Clark, to Lex, and was about Desiree tempting Clark in the barn.
But, hmpf. I wonder why I automatically assumed Lex was the author, rather than Clark. Because of course Clark was the one kissing another man's finance. Why should Lex be the one apologizing? I suppose it's just that the whole sending of a postcard, it's a gesture, an attempt to reach out and bridge a gap. In my head, Lex is always the one who does that, not only observing the courtesies and formalities, but also refusing to forget the past, continually revisiting it, while Clark is happiest burying six foot deep beneath a boulder the size of a haystack.
I like that the postcard was supposed to be from Clark. Because it's unsent, right? That's why we're reading it now; so maybe it's in the loft. Behind the sofa, under a rolled-up carpet. Inside a battered cardboard box filled with old newspaper clippings, SV High yearbooks and black and white photos of the Langs.
SCORE! See? It's not even stamped yet. Clark wrote it, but then chickened out yet couldn't bring himself to throw it away. So it sits in his loft somewhere, nibbling at the edges of his mind, feeding that whole guilt-complex he's been developing since he found out where he came from (and what would he be without it?)
