I wanted to make a special something for Christmas. After having rejected many ideas that I have not the talent to make (anyone wants to make me a clexy manip of Santa Clark with a naughty Lex in his lap?) I ended up with something not very special, but kind of fun: Christmas celebrated on three different years. Here's the first one:

The Luthors and their Christmas Wishes )

Second Christmas will be posted tomorrow.

I forgot to post these in my last post and I'm too lazy to edit it.

I just made these:

I'm using the first one right now, but both are shareable. Just comment if you want to use one.

Vid Rec

Two years ago, I stumbled across my first fanvid. It was a Spuffy vid and while I was not a fan of this ship, I had a huge crush on Spike. After watching it, I downloaded all the vids that were on the site. At the time, vids were, to me, just a mean to watch Spike scenes that I hadn't seen before (I watched the show in French, I was one or two seasons behind). Cool music was a bonus.

Later, when I was obsessing over LotR and Elijah Wood, I came across a Boromir/Aragorn vid using the song Come What May. That's when I realized two things. The first was that vids could be funny, especially when serious movie characters seemed to be singing love songs to each other. The second was that I really liked Boromir. Contrary to the Buffy vids, I still like that vid a lot. It always makes me smile.

After having downloaded a couple of humorous LotR (movie and cast) vids, I was left with nothing new to watch. I tried some HP vids, but Harry/Draco is not as much fun in vids as it is in fics or fanarts.

Some times later, I discovered Smallville, and wow, I had never downloaded so many vids. That's when I discovered that vids were not just pretty moving pictures or funny scenes with music. (Although there's nothing wrong with these two kind of vids, they're still a lot of fun) They're so much more than that. They can be pretty and shiny and fun and make you want to watch them over and over again. They can be simple and move you in ways that the song or the scene alone could not do. They can put an interesting twist to a song and make you giggle insanely every time you hear it (especially embarrassing when it happens in a public place ^.^). Vidders can take scenes you've seen a million time and put them together to create a story that will blow you away! Sometimes, a good vid is almost as good as a fic, story-wise.

I love vids!

When I started this journal, the first thing I wanted to do was to rec all the vids I loved. I never did it, I'm not sure why, but yesterday I had a vid craving and I went hunting. What I found was a vid genre that is not as popular as others, but which I find extremely cool: Trailers! The kind of vids you wish you could watch on the WB. The kind of vids that would make people want to watch Smallville. That's what I'm reccing today.

I'll start with the two I found yesterday, The End of the Beginning and Trailer Season 4. The first one is about Chloe and the Luthors, something a lot of people on TWOP would love to see. The second one is about relationships in the third season and what's going to happen in the 4th. It gave me chills the first time I saw it. Both are very good, the music is fantastic and if I wasn't already watching Smallville, I'd start watching now. They can be found here.

Kryptonix is the first one of the genre I ever saw. It's absolutely fantastic! The music, the scenes, the Lex scene... It's more about the action side of the show, the kind of vid I'd show to my male friends to make them watch Smallville.

Aquarium is a season 1 homage using episodes stills, but it's...I don't know, it makes *me* want to watch the first season, I don't know if it'd work with SV virgins. I think it's worth a try.

There was another another one I wanted to rec, but I can't find it. It was the SV credits using the theme from Young Frankenstein. If you know what I'm talking about and have a link, could you give it to me?

[ETA: If you have a vid to rec, don't hesitate and give me a link : )]

I've been trying to persuade my friends to watch the same tv shows I watch for years! I rarely succeed. This year though, was a lucky year. ^_^

I had an O.C. marathon with a friend in October and an other friend wants me to lend her the first season dvds. Operation The O.C. = success

I sent them an email last week describing Lost with links to different websites, pictures of the cast and wrote two paragraphs about why I love the show. I also told them I'd tape the pilot, which I did. They both seem very interested, and we'll probably watch that after Christmas.
Operation Lost = on the road to success

Now, the biggest challenge: Smallville. One of them is interested and wants to borrow my dvds. It's no SV marathon, but it will have to do. The other (the one who watches The O.C.) is not interested at all. She doesn't see the appeal of the show! *is shocked*

But today, a Christmas miracle happened! As a gift, she's willing to watch 5 episodes with me. *squeee*
That's where I need your help. I have 5 episodes to make her like the show, which ones do you suggest? She doesn't care about being spoiled, so they don't have to be from season one. I want interesting episodes, fun episodes, episodes that made you fall in love with the show.

Suggestions?
